Debarati Guha Sapir
Debarati Guha-Sapir is Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) and Professor at University of Louvain School of Public Health, in Brussels, Belgium. She holds an Adjunct Professorship at Tulane University Medical Centre (New Orleans) for Health and Humanitarian Aid. Trained in Calcutta University, Johns Hopkins University and University of Louvain she holds a Ph.D in epidemiology.
Regina Below
Regina has worked at CRED for over 20 years. As technical support staff, she is involved in different activities of the centre and is in charge of the International Disaster Database (EM-DAT) project.
David Hargitt
David Hargitt is the Data Manager for the Complex Emergency Database. He is in charge of data collection for CE-DAT, NGO and intergovernmental contacts, and also coordinates workshops and conferences. He did his Bachelor's degree in Biology at Hartwick College, New York, a Master's in Human Ecology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and a Master's in Cartography and Remote Sensing at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).
Alexander Diaz T.
Alexander F. Díaz is a Technical Computer Engineer at CRED. He has a technical computer degree from CECEP Foundation of Cali in Colombia and a background in Management and Business Administration from the Free University of Cali. Before joining CRED, Alex worked in the insurance sector and in a private energy company in Colombia as developer and as IT manager of the financial department, respectively. He also worked for ITC services in Spain as a developer in B2B and in Belgium as a developer of B2B software and in marketing.
Bernadette Dubus
Bernadette is an Administrative Assistant at CRED and is in charge of reporting for the MICRODIS project and the organization of the annual APHES summer course. She did her bachelor degree in geographical science and earned her Master’s in Science and environmental management at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)
Jose M Rodriguez-Llanes
Jose Rodriguez is a Research Fellow at CRED. He obtained a degree in veterinary medicine in 2003 at the University of Cordoba, Spain and did postgraduate studies at the Veterinary School of Maisons Alfort in Paris, France. He worked in Conservation Biology for three years in Spain and was recently trained in Biostatistics at KU Leuven. Since joining CRED in March 2009, he has been analyzing flood impacts on child malnutrition and studying the trends in exposure to floods in Europe.
Joana Lima
Joana Lima is a Research Fellow at CRED. She trained as a doctor and obtained a Master's Degree in Global Health. Joana has experience in field research in Africa and Asia and is currently working on issues of humanitarian aid financing and effectiveness.
Chiara Altare
Chiara Altare is a reasearch fellow at CRED working on the human impact of conflict on health, with special focus on malnutrition in complex emergencies. She has a degree in Development Economics from the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, The Netherlands. Since 2007, she has been working in academic and consultancy organisations focusing on humanitarian assistance.
Peter Heudtlass
Peter has been involved in research activities at CRED since 2010. He studied political science and economics at the University of Osnabrück, Germany, and Université Paris XII and holds a Master's in Economics from the Université catholique de Louvain. Peter is currently Research Assistant at the University of Namur (Centre de Recherche en Economie du Développement) and working on health and nutrition in complex emergencies.
Pandora Kodrou
Pandora is a Research Fellow at CRED. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Statistics and Actuarial Mathematics at the University of Aegean, Greece and a Master’s degree in Statistics with a major in Biometrics at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. Her interests include epidemiology of infectious diseases and longitudinal data analysis.
Brieuc Kaisin
Brieuc is a Research Intern at CRED. He holds a Bachelor's degree in economics from the Facultés Universitaires Notre Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) in Namur and is currently completing a Master’s degree in development economics at the Economics School of Louvain (ESL). Since his arrival at CRED in September 2011, he has been working on the socio-economic impacts of earthquakes and the analysis of EM-DAT data.
